Friday, March 15, 2019 Brackets Portable, a modern, open source code editor that understands web design
"I like everything about brackets but it is suitable only for HTML, CSS, Javascript and other Front-End languages for web development. It cannot be used for handling databases and hence it it not suitable for Back-End Web Development. Manipulation of back-end data is also difficult with it." —Saksham G (Information Technology and Services Enterprise; 10,001+ employees), (Aug 28, 2018)
"Quick editing and live preview are really useful and make frontend work much easier. ...Brackets is not without shortcomings. However, with its rapid development, chances are good that they will be addressed in the future. If so, Brackets is poised to take a leading position in the code editor industry." —Nick Schäferhoff, (January 5, 2017)
"The recently added file tree feature is really a time saver. You can move files with a drop and drag feature without ever minimizing the program. ... While using extensions are at your own risk, I have sometimes found an extension that caused a problem. It was easily resolved by deleting the software and then reinstalling." —William Ruthrauff (Technical Liaison II, MetLifeInsurance, 10,001+ employees), (December 18, 2018)
Brackets is a modern text editor that makes it easy to design in the browser. It's crafted from the ground up for web designers and front-end developers.
It's not as light-weight as Notepad++ or Sublime Text. It's between those and Atom, but faster than Atom—like most text editors... :)
Brackets supports more features through its extension manager. Some of the most popular extensions are Emmet, Beautify, File Icons (file icons in Brackets’ file tree), Indent Guides, Git, Autoprefixer, and W3C Validation.

Portability Notes

  • Brackets do not have portable mode. It stores its settings in Windows registry and data folders while running. We redirect Windows' environment variables %USERPROFILE%, %APPDATA%, and %LOCALAPPDATA to Data folder. So all data folders are portablized, except the registry entry for Brackets window's position.
  • Make sure it exits cleanly before plugging out your thumbdrive.
  • You can help by sending request to the official developer to add "portable mode" to their future release.
