Synfig Studio Portable, Open Source Animation Software!
"Synfig is different from Blender in that it does traditional 2D animation. Think “The Simpsons” or “South Park” (what Synfig does) versus “Up” or “Toy Story” (what Blender does). ...the first thing you’ll notice is that 1.0 comes with a brand new, integrated, one-screen interface. ...may seem overwhelming to the non-initiated, but that’s because animation is in itself a complicated, labourious process." —Paul Brown, OCSMag.com (May 21, 2015)
"...That was the original idea from day one - the elimination of the tweening process. But it is certainly not the only feature of Synfig that makes it unique. In addition to eliminating the tweening process, I also wanted Synfig to be used for pretty much every part of production except story-boarding and editing." —Robert Quattlebaum (Lead Developer, in an interview), OSNews.com (Tue 10th Jan 2006 04:18 UTC)
"The Synfig vector-based open-source 2D animation software package is a must have for any graphic animation artists on a tight budget. It may not yet live up the other animation applications like Maya or 3D Studio Max but it sure is able to get the job done in a relatively short amount of time. Interesting enough is that the output is of the highest quality." —S. R. Obbayi/Amy Carson, BrightHub.com (9/3/2010)
Synfig Studio is a free and open-source 2D animation software, designed as powerful industrial-strength solution for creating film-quality animation using a vector and bitmap artwork.
It eliminates the need to create animation frame-by frame, allowing you to produce 2D animation of a higher quality with fewer people and resources.
