Release Notes

2018 7.0.3: On first run XDM will ask to download some files. It will download FFmpeg and youtube-dl, after that you can download video correctly. Sorry about our previous notes :)
2018 7.0.1: It's a completely new official release. You can't upgrade from your previous version, you have to do a fresh install. From our tests, downloading video always failed.

DIY/Do It Yourself: Upgrade to the Latest Release

Requirements 7-Zip, NPP/Notepad++ or other text editor, PortableApps.com Launcher Generator/PAL, PortableApps.com Installer/PAI.

  1. Get the latest portable app. template, and extract the content with 7-Zip.
  2. Get the latest XDM release: the MSI installer.
  3. Put it in the same folder as the extracted template, in our example C:\0TEST, then extract the installer by following this guide.
  4. Browse into the extracted folder, in this example C:\0TEST\xdmsetup-2018\XDM\jre folder → open a command window in this folder: SHIFT+(right click on empty space) then select open command window here, Open command window
paste this command line then press Enter:
    for /r %x in (*.pack) do .\bin\unpack200 -r "%x" "%~dx%~px%~nx.jar"
    Unpack JRE
  5. Move all contents of the extracted xdmsetup-2018\XDM folder to XDMPortable\App\XDM, Move to App\XDM
  6. Browse to XDMPortable\App\AppInfo and open appinfo.ini file with NPP. Replace the [Version] section with the latest version number. Make sure the PackageVersion entry is in 4 place digit, eg. not just 7.0.5, Update version
  7. Run PAL, paste the template folder address C:\0TEST\XDMPortable, and click Go—a new launcher will be created, Create new launcher
  8. Test the new launchers by following this guide.
  9. When all is OK, then delete the XDMPortable\Data folder and run PAI, paste the package folder address C:\0TEST\XDMPortable, and click Go—to create the installer package. Create installer
  10. Use the installer package to upgrade your portable application. Don't forget to at least backup your Data folder before any upgrade :)
  11. If you find any changes that's not handled by the launcher, consult the PAL help file to modify the launcher yourself or ask for our paid upgrade support.

Portability Notes

  • XDM do not have portable mode. It stores its settings and writes runtime data to Windows data folder while running.
  • Make sure it exits cleanly before plugging out your thumbdrive.
  • You can help by sending request to the official developer to add "portable mode" to their future release.
